Dying of homesickness. Thinking of ferry home UK to ROI for Christmas, I know quarantine may still be in place but could we get to the quarantine house then book a test check we’re ok and then hug my parents #oneyear

My understanding is you can test negative one day and still test positive within the next two weeks — that’s the incubation period. Some people think two weeks is overkill. Obviously it’s up to you and your parents how much risk you are willing to take. In any case I think you have plenty of time between now and Christmas to see how things are then. (I live abroad too and haven’t seen my parents either but we FaceTime and chat a lot. It would be nice for my kids to see them but for now we aren’t comfortable with what we would beee to do to make it happen. We will take it as it comes.)

Meg I have a family member working in a test centre in Galway, I can find out how you can go about it for you but it will probably be Tuesday before I can get back to you with information.
