What to do for FIL 70th Birthday

So as the title says, fil is 70 in August and would like to arrange something for him. He doesn't drink and is not the party type. Was thinking of a nice family meal in a restaurant with his children, grandchildren and daughters in law. Anyone have any other ideas? We are in Dublin so any recommendations for family friendly restaurants /hotels would be much appreciated.

Will he want to go out and sit in a restaurant if Covid19 is still around ?

@LadyEloise, we are in Ireland so our final phase is July 20th,his birthday is the middle of August. He has been out and about having a coffee the last few weeks and last Sunday he went for dinner in his usual spot so I say he will be fine if we go to a restaurant Smile

How young are the children?

The reason I ask about the age of the children is that some restaurants are very welcoming of children and some aren't- some parents allow young children run around and this can annoy other diners and hinder staff.

Rolys in Ballsbridge is always popular.

When my dad was 70 we all went to Collins barracks, had a look round and then had lunch in the cafe there. It was really nice. We told the cafe in advance that we'd be coming as we were a big group and they pushed tables together.
We had quite a few young children with us so being a bit less formal worked well.

The Herbert park hotel might suit, it has an outdoor terrace attached to the restaurant, which would feel safer to sit in at the moment particularly for older people and it's right beside the park for the children to run around. We've had lovely family lunches there and they do afternoon tea as well.

I'm trying to think of other places where you could sit outside, Avoca in Kilmac is fab and more informal, and The cakes are yum!

the Radisson in Booterstown has a beautiful garden, the Merrion has a nice courtyard.

Did you get sorted @IndieRo ?
