Is anyone else shocked at the light sentences given to Patricia's husband, daughter snd granddaughter in relation to their participation in concealing her horrendous murder and dismembering.

For her son and her siblings it must be heartbreaking.

The judge talked the talk re condemnation but the sentences were extraordinarily light.

Poor Patricia Sad

Yes I totally agree. They sound like absolutely awful people. They all should have gotten far longer sentences. I think they were all equally guilty

I'm surprised it has got so little attention. Sad
I suppose it is bad timing with so much focus on the new government.

We have some super female journalists so I am a bit surprised they haven't commented. Perhaps there will be some pieces on it in the Sunday papers.

Oops meant to add that we have some very good female politicians too, I'm surprised they haven't commented. But again it's bad timing with the government formation. Sad

Jesse. What an appalling case. How on earth were so many members of her family happy/willing to collude in covering up her murder? Beggars belief. Poor woman.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 28/06/2020 09:25

I hadn’t heard of this case op.

After googling I agree with you op. Totally horrifying.

The details of why’ are so sketchy. The involvement of so many people that Patricia loved. How can you get so many people to cover for you?

Patricia deserved so much more, from both the people around her and the justice system.

LadyEloise · 03/07/2020 11:35

No journalist or politician commented to my knowledge. SadSadSad
I suppose the Government formation took precedence.

Shocking case in the west of Ireland where a young girl, from the age of 6 was abused by her three brothers, one of whom assaulted her about 3 times a week from the age of 6 to 10.
Heartbreaking that she was not supported by her parents in taking the cases to court.
The brother mentioned above got a measly four years according to the headline in The Journal ( Irish online "newspaper" ) today.

The same judge SadSadSad

Is there any way of getting a sentence review here in Ireland?

LadyEloise · 14/07/2020 15:58

I don't know. I'm not a lawyer.
