Buying property

Would you buy a house now with corona rampant and maybe a recession on the way?
We are about to place an offer on a house which has been on the market for a while. I am inclined to offer about 15-20% less than asking, which would be less than the only other offer they have received. They turned down the other offer, btw.

What would you do? I don't want to take the piss but equally I don't want to pay more than I have to. The property is outside Dublin.

Thanks in advance

I would wait a few months. I know it's awful to take advantage but how would you feel after buying the property to find out that the house next door sold 3 months later for thousands less.

Yes. Give it time. The property prices will go down. You will prob save another 30% later in the year.

Not in a milliom yrs would I buy now but One thing you need to be very careful of is your mortgage approval. I would buy before that runs out. As I would bet that criteria to even get a mortgage will be extremely tight going forward. Needing more deposit , secure jobs etc etc

What did you do @FriteFuaite ?! Did you put in the offer?
