How can I get shopping delivered for my Dad (Wexford)?

I’m in the UK but my Dad is in Co. Wexford (rural location), older, vulnerable (emphysema) and living alone.

How can I get him some shopping delivered?

Try his local council website, they should be setting up a hotline to offer assistance to those in need of support

Get in touch with ALONE as well. They have had huge amounts of people volunteering to help older people like your dad.

Try the ClubTogether initiative for anybody worried about family or friends cocooning. It is a collaboration between SuperValu, Centra and the GAA.

Look up your local GAA club and they should have details of a local coordinator soon, if not already. All the clubs in the country are starting deliveries for the elderly and vulnerable tomorrow. The club secretaries are the contacts. Check details on the local club's facebook or twitter page. There's loads of people willing to help with deliveries.

An Post are also going to start checking on the elderly and vulnerable and delivering medications, newspapers and other bits too.

Supervalu supermarkets do home delivery. You could order for him online or over the phone and get them to deliver. They are smaller, local supermarkets and it might be easier to get an order via them than the likes of Tesco.

My parents are in a similar position. Couldn’t get a SuperValu slot for 10 days! They called their local shop and the owner was brilliant - took a list from them and delivered everything within 3 hours.
