Hi everyone!

Thank you in advance for advice.

Does anyone know anything about castle park school in dalkey? What do you think of it? It seems lovely but just want to check before we sign up!

Second choice is mount Anville but that seemed more stressful and less facilities and classes much bigger.

But love any advice.

Thank you!

My nephews went there for a bit it's a lovely school, very expensive though. The only issue my db had with it was that a lot of the students seemed to be children of diplomats or similar, so they seemed to come and go a lot and he found that unsettling. He moved them to willow park eventually and they seem very happy there.

Thanks @deadringer that was my worry too. Can I ask how long ago that was? They said that they used to have 60% international kids but these days it's only 20%. Just wanted to check!

His youngest is 10 so relatively recently. I will ask him for feedback and get back to you. There are loads of great schools in South Dublin, do you have boys or girls or both?

Deadringer · 29/02/2020 15:36

Ok checked it out, db says they actually loved castle park but moved their boys because it isn't a feeder school for any particular secondary and they really wanted their sons to go to Blackrock college.

Great facilities. Relative's children went there and loved it.

Castle park over Mount Anville (presuming you mean the private rather than the national school?) Tbh, I would have thought your location would dictate a decision there unless you're not living in Dublin yet?

Perhaps the OP liked the house i suggested in Dalkey Smile

Smile yes thank you!! I think we are pretty set on Castle Park and living in Dalkey or Monkstown (if we can ever find a house after all this!) Thanks again for advice

Random left field suggestion but have you thought of Sutton Park and living in Howth?

TwinsMumm · 26/12/2020 09:16

Hi, @toddlermon did you enroll your son to Castle Park? Do you recommend it? We are moving to Dalkey next year and are looking for a school.

Thanks!

toddlermom · 17/01/2021 23:01

Hi @TwinsMumm sorry delay I can't work out how to get notifications of post updates.

Anyway, we all love Castlepark! It's lovely (despite Covid), kids love it and it's got nice small classes. BUT a lot of the families are very transient so many kids leave after 3/4 years. (We have 3/4 leaving this year so my kids are already worried about missing their friends).

It depends how old your kids are.
I will 100% send our baby and toddler there for pre-prep but we will probably leave for primary school to find somewhere more "local" if that makes sense!

Also good luck and Dalkey is so gorgeous!! I still can't believe our luck to be somewhere so beautiful and with such lovely people next to the sea.

Thanks @toddlermom ! Our kids are 8 years old and we plan to stay in Dublin a couple of years, so we will be the ones moving from school.

I think that we'll finally go to Castle Park School, now we have to find a house! Did you contact any letting agency to find a place in Dalkey?

Or does anyone know any house for rent from summer'21?

Thanks again!
