Child friendly activities Belfast

I'm visiting Belfast soon with two primary age boys and my mam. We have booked tea on the titanic and visiting the titanic exhibition. also a bus tour but looking for other child friendly places to visit while we are there. We are staying fairly central but no car so walking or public transport distance would be great. Love some local knowledge of some hidden gems!

I love Streamvale open farm, lots of fun for kids. Not sure about transport but its not that far out of town

W5 will be right down the road from you in the Titanic. It’s undergoing some work at the moment but still worth a visit. We Are Vertigo has an inflatable park in the Titanic Quarter now, good fun for small ones.
Ulster Museum in the Botanic Gardens has child friendly interactive areas and the Tropical Ravine is wonderful.
You could take the train to Cultra and the Ulster Folk and Transport museum for another Titanic exhibit and lots of cool trains.

HMS Caroline is also down the road from the Titanic museum. My kids like it more than the Titanic! W5 is great and the Ulster museum is nice (and free). It's closed on Mondays though.

If the Belfast Giants are playing at home (the Odyssey), that’s always good.

I also recommend W5. If you are there for long enough consider one of the day trips to the Giants Causeway, they are often discounted on groupon. It's a good day out and the scenery is amazing.

We are Vertigo also has a ninja course which is good for all ages. Well worth it.

Catch a train down to Bangor and you can hang out at Aurora. If your DC are 8 and over they can go in to the pool by themselves. There is an aqua run challenge that is usually up on a Saturday - all participants wear life jackets so totally fine for all ages. An aqua challenge ticket includes 45min on the aqua run and then 45min in the leisure waters. Well worth it and you can either join in or sit and enjoy a book while they swim.

The Yoghurt Tree is a lovely wee coffee shop froyo place in Bangor that is well worth a visit too. They also have a Narnia themed escape room upstairs called the Puzzle Tree which is brilliant.

Trains between Bangor and Belfast are frequent and reliable.

For getting to Cultra for the museums you would also be on the Bangor/Belfast line.

Also great is the Ulster Museum and Botanic Gardens. Train from centre of Belfast up to Botanic (only 1/2 stops depending on where you leave from) and then walking.

W5 is closing half its exhibits from January for refurbishment so it's usually brilliant but I'm not sure I'd recommend going for all that's going to be open.

The folk and transport museum is on the the trainline and isn't far, it's brilliant, my DS's love the transport side.

Oh wow! Just checking in after new year and delighted with all your suggestions. Sadly not enough time for the giants causeway but definitely one day as I love NI so much we will return. Maybe when the weather is a tad better too! I'm going to freeze on the political walking tour while my mam and kids do a bus tour.

Avoca for lunch or coffee or cake or traybakes or all of the above is a must. It’s in the city centre on Arthur Street.

Go right up to the top/dome of Victoria Square, for some reason it's my kids favourite thing to do and we live there . Mine also just love a walk round the SSE Arena/Waterfront area, Nuala with the hula etc. St George's Market is also a handy one up the sleeve especially if you're out and about on a Sunday morning.

We went to W5 yesterday and although only 2 floors are open there is still loads to do. The tickets are discounted too to allow for the reduction. My two kids 6 and 3 loved it and we spent quite a bit of the afternoon there.

Most things have been covered by other posters. If they’re into castles we have one in Carrickfergus. A 30 minute train journey from Belfast Great Victoria using the Belfast-Larne line.
It has a nice sea front, harbour, restaurants and you can try our famous Mauds ice cream.
