Anyone watching ?
DH says that if we win the Lotto he'll get Dermot Bannon to do the house. Smile

You'd be forgiven for thinking there isn't another architect in the country!

7Days · 16/09/2019 10:38

You have to pay him, apparently!
I would not get Dermot Bannon
I hate washing windows and people looking in at me.
There must be architects out there who have more to them than sticking glass boxes at each corner

Taytocrisps · 17/09/2019 08:00

I watched it last night. What a great episode. Joe was gas - a real wheeler and dealer. You could tell he was baffled as to why you'd need to do anything to the house. I thought it was so sweet when he said he wanted Mary more than the house. They came across as a lovely couple and I hope they'll have many years of wedded bliss.

I love Irish Times reviews of RTI even more than I love RTI.

Best line ever (a review from last year)

Dermot Bannon hates walls and loves windows and natural light. His ideal home is a greenhouse on the surface of the sun, and someday, by God, he’s going to build it.

SnowBrussels · 17/09/2019 15:51

I wonder if we could crowdfund his trip there to build the dream home...

Taytocrisps
They did seem like a lovely couple.
How long were they going out !

Was that Patrick Freyne in the IT?
I love him so much he's hilarious about everything

Drum2018 · 18/09/2019 14:13

Apparently they'd been a couple years ago and then got together again. I'd say Joe would do anything for Mary. Even trying on the suits for his wedding he wondered if Mary would like them. The house turned out fab for them. They were a lovely couple.

I am so sad that I can't watch this abroad (Scandinavia). RTE are truly shite at selling their programmes to the rest of the, well, at least the EU should want a few? Miles funnier than the American shite we get!

LaurieMarlow · 27/09/2019 13:00

I don’t think access to RTÉ player is restricted. Have you tried it?

banivani · 27/09/2019 13:07

I have it, but they don't have everything on it. Well I should say, they don't have everything on it for free. I am not quite willing to pay. Am aware this makes me a hypocrite but I'm spoiled with my public service that has all content free. If I had more time to watch telly I might pay.

Mind, I still think RTE should do a better job of selling the programmes.

beanaseireann · 27/09/2019 15:01

They always repeat the series at some stage.
RTE always repeat stuff Smile

I walked past a house today that's going to feature on Room to Improve. My friend told me they've been working on it for almost a year and that it's more of a rebuild rather than a renovation as only the gable walls of the original house were left standing.

The house is in a very scenic area looking out over the bay but it stands out like a sore thumb and not sympathetic to all the other houses nearby, it's like a glass cube on top of another glass cube.

WeShouldOpenABar · 27/09/2019 22:24

Diarmo loves a glass cube, we're going to see his own refurb in January bet he has a reading nook in every corner and a hideously modern kitchen. Either that or he keeps all the normal bland livable ideas for himself.

banivani · 28/09/2019 08:09

Ah sure I’m not in Ireland enough to catch anything - my plea to RTE remains. Perhaps that’s my ticket to move to Ireland myself, that’s the job I’m meant to have!

Taytocrisps · 29/09/2019 21:44

Anyone watching tonight? They've quite a generous budget.
