What's the best raincoat?

I'm moving to rural Cork for a year what sort of raincoat would it be best to get? I was looking at protected species ones and wondering if I could justify the cost or whether I should get a £40 sailing jacket/coat from a sports shop?

Ive a waterproof Joules one.
Dunnes have waterproof long jackets at the moment in salmon, pale blue and a lovely coral shade. They're about €25/€30

I like the sound of the Dunnes one. I didn't really want to spend that much (£160-200) on a coat. Maybe the best thing is to shop when we get there! Thanks.

This is a very Irish thread for the hottest week of the year.

Another vote for Dunnes

But, if you're going to be in West Cork for a year, you'll need something warm for Nov til May March .....

Ilse Jacobsen seems to be very popular

Thats the one DuchessDumbarton.
Isnt the coral nice and bright for a grey day ?

DuchessDumbarton · 22/07/2019 17:54

Yes, it's a smashing colour.

Aren't Dunnes great?
