Great interview with her on late late last night. Highly recommend the interview. What an impressive lady. Wow!

It was great to see her getting a standing ovation. I lived abroad and wasn't aware of this case but my son studied criminal justice studies and covered this case on his course.

Not surprised to see it was Paul Carney that was the judge, his career was riddled with controversy giving extremely lenient sentences to none at all for the very serious crimes yet would send women to prison for not having a tv licence. He's no loss to the justice system. May he rot in hell.

It's well referenced in Ireland with respect to case law. The standing ovation was amazing. She has made such a positive difference to the legal system in Ireland. Without her the system would be so much worse (than it already it).

She was the first person to take such a stand in Ireland. How brave. How inspiring.

In Clonmel RCC (which as you know is a small place), in that year of 1992 42 rapes, only 3 reported to gardai.

That has changed a lot now. In Cork today I'd estimate it's 1 in 3 reported to gardai.

Wasn't he found tired and emotional outside a closed Shelbourne Hotel soon after the case ?
I can't believe he actually had a wife and children considering some of his misogynistic judgements.
I hate these politically appointed judges. Disgusting system.

From what I've read of Carney it looks like he hated women.
