Online shopping post brexit

I buy a lot online, purely for convenience, but I've been thinking about the UK sites that I use and how we'll have to pay customs on purchases post brexit.

I bought something from the US a few weeks ago, from Shopbop, and had the option to pay the VAT at checkout or pay on delivery. I guess larger sites like Boden and ASOS might do the same, but smaller companies and places like eBay and Etsy might not, and we'll end up having to pay the post man?

I assume Zara, Mango, H and M, will be business as usual, although Zara parcels seem to come from a UK warehouse.

I know these aren't life or death issues, but it is very annoying.

I presume all products will be hit with tariffs if coming from the UK.
I'd only started ordering from UK sites recently as I use AddressPal so I get free delivery to their UK sorting office and then pay almost €4 to pick up at my local post office. That service will probably go if when Brexit happens.
Returns are soooo expensive though. Sad
I've learned my lesson and will never again order boots online from UK.Angry

I've been looking at amazon.de, I know they sometimes have better deals than the uk version. Hopefully they spot the opportunity of sales to Ireland and start offering free delivery not hopeful
It sucks, doesn't it? There's already a price gap when converting to sterling at i.e. M&S, can't see retailers not taking advantage Angry

That's interesting re Amazon.de, thank you SmallandFarAway.

That's a really good idea Small, I must have a look there.

Bean, I know returns are a killer, I only buy when I'm really sure I'll keep it, so only buy shoes if I know the brand and I'm sure of sizing. I'd never buy jeans for instance as they are so difficult to get right with sizing!

Do you find address pal good? I was thinking of using it to buy some home stuff from La Redoute. The UK site has a much better selection than the .com one that delivers to Ireland. I'd better be quick though

I love AddressPal pinkground202.
It suits me to pick up my delivery at my local post office.

I tried to order from the UK La Redoute site using my Parcel Wizard address. They cancelled the order without informing me. When I asked them why I was told they only deliver to UK residential addresses.

I use Parcel Wizard for about 95 percent of my Ebay purchases so will really miss it if it goes.

I'm trying to stock up on supersizes of shampoos and conditioners from Amazon.co.uk and Allbeauty.com. I've noticed that Amazon.de only seems to ship smaller sizes to Ireland.

I order specialised shoes for my arthritis and orthotics from two UK websites VAT free, so have also being trying to stock up on those in the sales.

My last Mango order was routed through the UK, so I expect that there may be some delays in the event of a hard Brexit.

The last time I ordered cat food from Zooplus it was also routed through the UK, so I'll probably have to think about stocking up on that too.
