GAA and the Liam Milker Testimonial

I am disgusted that the GAA are not allowing the Liam Miller Testimonial be held in Páirc Uí Chaoimh
A friend of mine calls them the Grab All Association and they have proved it now.
How much money did the taxpayer put into the fancy GAA stadiums ?
It's payback time.... for the (tax paying) soccer followers - Liam's family and friends deserve it.
We are telling our children to be inclusive yet the biggest sporting body in the country is doing the exact opposite.
Oh how we ( including GAA people) cheer when the Irish soccer team does well. How proud we are.
Liam died far too young at 36.
The testimonial is a tribute to him and his soccer prowess playing for Ireland.
He deserves the best stadium Cork has to offer.
Hang your heads in shame GAA officials.

It's an absolute disgrace and the GAA headquarters are getting an awful backlash in the media. The Cork county board want it to happen but if there's nothing in it for the grab all association suits in Croke Park they don't want it to happen.

Using the rule book is only a cop out and anyway the EU ruled that as the government gave €30 million of taxpayers money by way of a grant to the building of Páirc Uí Chaoimh under competition laws the stadium was to be opened up to other sports.

Liam Miller was once a GAA player shame the GAA don't want to acknowledge that.

The GAA are also shitting on the Marymount Hospice who will be a beneficiary from this match.

The GAA bullshit about the grassroots and community but when there's nothing in it for them they don't care. The suits have really scored an own goal with this especially after the Kildare carry on.

I agree HoneyRider
Hopefully a few heads will be knocked together today and it will take place in Páirc Uí Caoímh.

It's an absolute disgrace... they were quick enough to have ed sheeted in there for 3 nights in May but when they're going to make no money off this they don't give a shit...

Hopefully heads will have been knocked together and it will happen.

OP I'd do love for that to happen especially as a local but I can't see the money grabbing GAA doing it..

lonelyatchristmas · 27/07/2018 20:00

I have to say even tho I never met him I've thought a few times this week on how he must be up there at the minute looking down in awe at having not realising how much he meant to the people of Cork.. and he must be laughing at how he's the topic of every conversation on the radios and shops alike..

beanaseireann · 28/07/2018 13:50

Yay
Common sense and decency prevailed.

Although the GAA suits have finally agreed to it and having a GAA event take place before the match it's way too late to redeem themselves. It's been a PR disaster for the GAA when it could easily have been a fantastic PR opportunity.

lonelyatchristmas · 28/07/2018 19:50

And they are taking a slice of the takings to go towards the GAA injures players.. had to be something in it fir the GAA

beanaseireann · 29/07/2018 13:34
