Just trying to guage how dressy to go for my dds confirmation in may. Can anyone tell me what they have worn or will wear just so I can get an idea? Is it dressier, the same as or less formal than thr communion? Thank you!

Haven't been to one for a few years bit it was about the same as a communion.

Yeah same as communion

DPotter · 17/01/2018 17:57

We all wore our school uniform - was ages ago though

Friends of mine whose DDs have been confirmed recently wore school uniform. This was a southside of Dublin national school, near Dun Laoghaire. The rest of the family were all dolled up.

If you're the type to get dolled up,get dolled up. Most mothers imho make a bit of an effort.

My son wore a suit to his communion and he wore a Superdry hoodie, polo shirt and jeans and some Vans for his confirmation. Much less formal in his school. Girls schools can get a bit dressier than the boys do but one thing to note - they all wore albs over their clothes so no one knew what they were wearing at the ceremony, only when they were finished.

LOL! I read your post again and I now understand that you're looking for yourself, not the kids! Oops!

I'd go the same as the communion for whatever you want to wear yourself!

I think a lot of women are conscious that they are about to be the mother of a teenager and want to make the most of themselves while they are still not going to be accused of the 'mutton dressed as lamb' look. I know my friend got her hair done, nails, bought a new outfit and shoes, and looked fab.

Thanks everybody!

Oh round here all the mums seem to have hair, nails and make up done. Most would also have their tan done. Same as communion I suppose but less dressy than a wedding

purplecorkheart · 14/03/2018 19:04

Anyone I have been to it is similar to a communion.
