Was this the one where they had to draw where they thought the border was? Someone drew the border halfway across the island going from Dublin to Galway. Seriously people, how often do you see a map of the UK showing. It pops up all over the place. How can they not even have a vague notion??

And yes, as for the older woman who said 'Ireland lost' (lost what exactly?). She typifies the particular type of English person who thinks the Irish are just troublesome peasants who should know their place and pipe down.

It's certainly provided a good old laugh in the media and especially on social media, especially the dumb old bat going on about Ireland losing, eh dear we didn't vote on Brexit.

It's a very long thread, so I wouldn't advise trying to read it all, but it is interesting how many posters have rocked up, accused Ireland of trying to ruin things for the UK, and fucked off again

There are lot of British people who know nothing about NI. Quite a few of them seem to think that the violence in the north happened in Ireland. And, frighteningly, a fair few British politicians and Brexit negotiators don't seem to be much better informed.

Even though I know it's serious, I'm struggling to take the aggressive ignorance seriously. It's just too shocking to engage with and seems to be getting worse, if anything.

I think there is still a condescension towards Ireland and the Irish by some in the UK.
The 'No Irish need apply' mindset is still there with some.

Though this is very important in relation to Brexit - due to Northern Ireland will be leaving the EU with the rest of the UK and the Republic wont, I thought it was interesting to see the reverse piece where Irish people were asked to draw the borders between Scotland, Wales and England. I would struggle to know exactly where these borders are on land but as the entire island of GB will be leaving the EU shortly, it doesn't matter but it is interesting viewing.

I'm off to have a read of the other thread...should I do some meditation first though in case it frustrates and angers me???
