Overdue on public system

Just wondering if anyone else had this or knows what will happen. Currently one week overdue, already told the large size of baby meant they were originally unsure if they would let me go to 40 weeks and back in for a check tomorrow. DM said at the weekend not to worry me but that they will probably keep me in after the check, although everything else I've read says that they let you go 2 weeks over due date. I'm not worried either way just curious and wondering if I should have the bag in the car before I head in tomorrow. Anyone any thoughts/suggestions?

Didn't want to read and run but I would say yes, have the bag in the car just in case. Not particular to your circumstances, but I'd be doing that at 40 weeks anyway!

I really don't know if they will want to keep you in, sorry. Do they even do that anymore without strong cause like waters broken for 24+ hours or some concern that emerged from a scan?

I honestly don't know, that's why I was wondering if there was any logic in what DM said! bag is ready (I'm not that disorganised!) just waiting in the house.

Definitely put the bag in the car! Whatever happens you only have a short time left to go - good luck!
And I think a lot depends on the particular hospital. It's entirely possible that they could keep you in - post an update.... love hearing about new babies!
