Writing an end of year thank you note for DS's teacher here who i know speaks Irish at home - we're not in a gaelscoil - and I'd like to finish my card with "thank you again for all your great work and beannachtai for a lovely summer " kind of thing!

Any Irish speakers about? Haven't written Irish since the leaving cert!

Ah flip flop! Maith an cailín! go hiontach! Much appreciated. Reminds me how I'd like to brush up on my cúpla focail! I got an A1 in honours Irish in the leaving can't believe how little I recall!!! It's embarrassing Blush

Go h-iontach.

Like you Sandy, it's embarrassing how little I remember..

(is this a good time to recite "sean-bhean is ea mise anois, atá cois aici san uaigh agus an cois eile ar a bruach" Grin Grin Grin )

Unfortunately, this is now more relevant to me than chasing boys from the Pres around Dún Chaoin

Ta failte romhat! Hope there aren't too many grammar mistakes. My own gaeilge is beagainin rusty!!!

I've started duo Lingo's Irish programme to try to brush up on my Irish. It's reassuring that I remember more than I thought!

Littlegreyauditor · 01/07/2017 22:34

Duolingo is brilliant. I'm teaching myself Irish to prepare for DS starting school in September- can't help with homework if I can't follow it. I love that the don't stick to traditional "this is the pen of my aunt" language teaching.

Today's knowledge? Caithimid bándearg ar an gCéadaoin Grin

KanyesLunchbox · 01/07/2017 22:57

But wtf is the obsession with turtles, crabs and bogs (non toilet type)??

Littlegreyauditor · 02/07/2017 00:04

Grin yeah, wildlife in various forms eating sandwiches and 'That's not my crab it's your crab' were a thing last week for me too.
