I'm not Catholic so I'm a bit out of the loop on this. I was thinking €30, is that about right? I also haven't bought a special card, does that matter?

I would give €50 plus a present for a godchild. €20/€30 for a niece or nephew or a friends child who I know well. And I've given €10 or sometimes book tokens for a child who I don't know well. Depends on how well you know the cousin and child. And I would put it in a card, but don't think child would care too much about that..

It was this afternoon (I left it a bit late to ask). I went with €30 in a card. My Mum later told me that she gave money from all of us (because she knew my brother wouldn't) so I suspect the child got either €50 or €100 from her. Grin I hope my cousin took a tithe from his gifts to pay for the really lovely lunch, it was delicious and we all had so much we didn't need dinner.

Re First Communion Gift
I give €20 to a child we are not that close to.
Godchildren a piece of jewellery and a money gift of €20
Close relations € 50
