Irish Prize Bonds

Any Irish Mumsnetters won anything in the Irish Prize Bonds?
DH, Dcs and I have them but never won a penny

DD1 has won €50 twice, over ten years. I thinks she has about €1000 worth, mostly gifts from grandparents when she was born and for her first few birthdays.

I actually bought €100 worth today. The lady in the post office told me that the prizes have reduced hugely... You can check to be sure but I think there used to be a draw for a million every second month, and now it's every 3 months, as well as less prizes of €1000.

My MIL and her sisters are obsessed by them - her whole extended family has been given prize bonds as presents for christenings, 21sts, etc. There must be over €10k worth of bonds across the whole family, some held for 30+ years. I think two cousins have won €1000 each.

MIL claims prize bonds are win-win as they're a form of savings that might yield a prize: a great idea, justified by the cousins' winnings. I think that because their value doesn't rise with inflation, you're just losing money: €500 of prize bonds bought 10 years ago is worth around €450 now.

MIL was shocked when DH cashed in his prize bonds during a finically tight spot a few years ago.

I won €3000 worth of prize bonds on a national radio station about 7 - 8 years ago. I've won €75 x 10 or 11 times, on average twice per year then the prize was reduced to €50 and I think I've only won that on one occasion. It's a year or two since I last won.

Glad to see somebody is winning something.

We have some given to DS. How do you claim prizes? Are they just posted out?

I have no idea.
I never won a penny/ cent.
