Is it me or have the kids clothes in Dunnes gone a bit shit, especially for the 10+ age range. Was in St Stephen's Green to see if they had anything nice for DD1+2 for Christmas and the 10+ age seemed to be all 'sporty' type - sweatshirt type tops and leggings. Did get a sparkly skirt and plain top for both but ... I don't know. Since they got the 'designers' in there seems to be very little 'ordinary' clothes.

You should look in the boys section - absolutely dreadful. And not cheap either.

I'm just sulking because I can't be in Dublin.

Elspeth - they looked all 'track-suity' for that age group too. Some nice bits for the younger age groups.

Yeah god forbid boys don't live in tracksuit bottoms and hoodies! Tesco stuff is actually nicer, which is piss poor on Dunnes part.

All the girls is very girly I find - poor DD is sooo NOT girly and can't find anything to suit her. And the tracksuits are not nice tracksuits.

We are currently spending €€€ on Canterbury tracksuit legs, a bunch of older sweatshirts are still going fine, but I cannot find any nice plain tops or tops with a graphic that is not sparkly and glittery to suit her and she has sprouted so her arms are miles out of the old ones.

And we need to buy a pair of jeans too - just plain jeans, no rips, no glitter, straight legged. You would think I was asking for the moon on a stick looking for those alone!

Mine are under five and this was the first year I have found quite decent stuff for them but agree the older boys clothes arent great

Next are my go-to shop for girls' jeans etc. without glittery shit. Just normal jeans, like you used to be able to get everywhere

They are more expensive than Tesco, but not much different to Dunnes' prices these days.

I don't think I've bought anything for DD1 in Dunnes for ages....but she loves plain jeans from Next. Current pair are flapping somewhere north of her ankles, but it's working fine with her high-top runners.

We're another one buying up the Canterbury bottoms which seem to be the right mix of comfy, long but not too wide.

We had a family Christening last week...and I insisted DDs wore dresses.
Tried Dunnes...too "girly girl" apparently.
And Next is too glittery.
Eventually found the "just right" dress in a small shop in our local shopping centre.

Dunnes are missing out; with sprouting children, I seem to be handing over my pay packet on clothes at the moment

(I can't even think about how shoes change in price once they go over size 5.5 ....oh dear lord.......arrrrrgggggghhhhhhh)

Unfortunately both dds dont like jeans (I live in them) as they are too restrictive and so its leggings in this house, usually a size larger than they are so they are not skin tight. Tried to get dd1 interested in wearing boys jeans as they arent as tight and she is showing signs of inheriting my thunderthighs (sorry dd1), but no go as they are 'boys trousers'.
Have been buying more and more clothes in Tesco.
As for the sizes in Penneys, bah humbug!
