Cots and beds

This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

If your dcs sleep in a bunk bed - what bedside lighting and storage do you have?

Can you recommend some lighting for both upper and lower bunks and book storage for older dc on upper bunk? I like the look of string lighting but no idea if it's practical to read by. Or maybe clip on lights would be better?

The novelty of sharing a room and bunkbeds obviously too much if giggles anything to go by, dh still upstairs settling them!

We haven't got our bunk beds yet, but I know clip lights say not for use as bedside lamps. I suppose they could be unstable? And the bulbs get very hot - you say what ages your DC are, but I'm guessing touching lightbulbs is always a risk .

Have you seen the IKEA wall lights? They screw in to the wall and have covers to stop little fingers touching the bulb (designed to look like a spider's web). DD has one in her room over her bed.

Can I ask where you got your bunks from and if you're happy with them? DC3 due in August and want to put DD and DS in a room together.
