Cots and beds

This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

What sort of bed for a 8 year old boy?

I have been pondering about getting my son a high sleeper but I have read they are a pain to change the sheets?

Also when I have looked into them on Ebay alot of people sell because their child has outgrown them..I thought high sleeper would last until the teenage years? I'm not saying I want a bed that lasts until he leaves home (!) but am now a bit stuck as to what to go for!

yes, they are a pain to change the sheets! .

Yes an adult can sleep in one, but they are that much more effort to climb up to... and teens often don't want it -- I think that they are almost seen as little kiddish by some teens?

Also, a very tall lad (over 6') would probably prefer a double bed size(+) to sleep.

thanks for your reply. I agree with all you say about the seeming kiddish and needing a bigger bed when older. I expect my son will be 6ft-ish but no idea when he will get to that height..his cousin hit that height at 14?

He is 8 now so I suppose getting this bed now would last him 5 years minimum when he would want a more grown up room anyway?
