baby bedding and duvet togs- help needed

I'm completely confused by baby bedding. I was brought up in a tropical country and so have to learn about dressing kids up/bedding etc. My dd1 is now 18m and I'm considering transferring her to a toddler bed. I have the bed already incl mattress. She currently sleeps in a sleeping bag in her cot which I need very shortly as dd2 is outgrowing her moses basket.
My question is- what tog duvet do I need ie. why do adults need 13.5 etc but kids stuff seem so much 'lessor' eg sleeping bag is only 2.5? There seems to be anything from 4 to 9 togs and I have no idea. Also, any recommendations as to what's a good brand and the right size? Toddler bed is 140/70.
Also, any ideas where to get nice bedding- sheets etc which are not disney/pretty pink stuff? My husband is really not into disney stuff having lived near Disneyland

We have a 4 tog duvet that seems to do nicely any time of the year, with an extra blanket in the winter.

You'll probably get it kicked off in the middle of the night for a while but if you get a full length single bed size, you can put it width ways across the bed and tuck it in under the matress fairly well.

I think unless your dd has any allergies then any bog standard kids duvet is fine (ours has synthetic filling, which is fine and easy to wash too).

No idea about non-pink stuff I'm afraid, we just went straight to dinosaurs.

Oh and the 'why such a lower tog', because they have super-high metabolism and would melt under a grown up duvet.

That's a good idea. Was wondering about them kicking it off. Thanks. There were some 4 piece sets on ebay which will do or could just get adult duvets.
