teething and wooden beds- We Have Splinters Folks!

What do I do?
9m daughter chews on everything; outside the cot I can direct her to 'healthy' options. When I put her down to sleep and she's not quite ready or when I don't notice immediately that she's awake she stands up and then she gnaws on the end of the bed. It's not the railing part with the plastic protector (of course). Nope, it's the end of the actual bed. She's gnawed through the paint into the wood and we've seriously got chunks of wood splintered on the bed and I had to get bits out of her mouth today...
What do I do?
Do they make plastic cots? because I cannot find them if they do.

You can get really pretty metal ones. IKEA does a very sweet one.

Actually I'm wrong, having looked at the website I see that its actually a toddler bed.

Yeah I was contemplating a toddler bed but then I had visions of dd falling out in the middle of the night and/or crawling and cruising all over the nursery willy nilly when I'm not around... At least it would keep the cat on his toes (since that's his favorite room).

Lol poor cat. Its quite low to the ground actually and has side half way up to minimize the risk of falling out but nothing to stop her getting out of it.

Just thought - can you have her in a travel cot?

You know a sturdy one - we have one from Mothercare suitable up until 2 yrs or so.

My neighbor suggested the same thing -for naps especially.
She also suggested maybe making a quilted 'bumper' for the cot that she wouldn't be able to pull off (by tying it underneath).
