DS aged 20 months is now in the toddler bed after climbing out of his cot. The bed is from John Lewis and has a cot bed mattress on 1400 x 700. DS likes to sleep against something so keeps falling out and waking up. I am thinking of putting a rail gaurd up but am strugglling to find one to fit such a small bed with a slat base. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks

Yes, get a Babydan one like this - they are portable and come in a bag and will fit very small beds. You can get them second hand on ebay very cheap and they are sturdy enough to last until he doesn't need it anymore.

Put a rolled up duvet on the floor for a week and by then he will have probably stopped falling out.

put a rolled up towel under the fitted sheet to act as a sort of border for the open side of the bed. When ds rolls towards it, he won't go anywhere.

Tip I learned from my MIL (after 3 of her own kids and 5 previous grandkids)...

Put the duvet on sideways. It's still plenty long enough to cover a toddlers feet and gives you lots of spare to tuck under the mattress both sides. hen they get caught my the duvet when they try to roll.

Alternatively, I have an IKEA bedguard going spare if you need one? Wouldn't fit on DS's cot bed and he doesn't need it in his new bed cause it's so close to the floor.
