This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

Bunk bed mattresses, am I being thick?

Just ordered bunk beds for DD (new baby on the way so the second bed is just forward-planning) and trying to research mattresses. I was of the opinion that you get a good quality one, but have found kid's mattresses. Are they special/different/necessary? Also some of the single mattresses specifically say that they are not for bunks. Why? Do I need to buy special bunk mattresses? Am I being think or precious about this? If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it. Otherwise I wonder if I am going mad!!

I think its to do with the depth and to make sure the mattress is at a certain height.
on our ds loft bed there is a level that the mattress should not succeed!

but deffinatly can buy a bunk mattress sepperatly.

hope that helps
