Anyone have the Forever Next to Me chicco cot? Is there anyway to lower the slide to place my baby into without having it permanently attached the my bed?

I believe there’s a safety mechanism which means the side can only be lowered and back when attached to the bed but I’d like to know if there is a way around this so I can use it like a traditional drop side cot as I have a terrible back and struggle to lift and lower the baby in and out as he’s getting heavy

I have this cot but not sure what you mean.
i didnt even attach the cot to the bed at all, just had it pulled up next to the bed and the cot side down all the time. Never moved

Those cots are designed to go right next to the bed with the side down you shouldn't need to bend to get the baby out as they are right next to you.
If you are using it as a stand alone for you have to have all four sides up.
