Recommended cots for newborns

What do you recommend for an affordable cot and mattress that’s approved by the Lullaby Trust that’s suitable for newborns but babies can still use when after 6 months?

The Lullaby Trust does not officially test, endorse or approve specific brand-name cots or individual products. Instead.they provide safety guidelines and standards that any cot must meet to ensure a safe sleep environment for an infant.

All cots sold by IKEA legally comply with the required UK and European safety standards. Because they follow these rules they align with the structural safety recommendations outlined by The Lullaby Trust.

We bought one from IKEA.

Do bear in mind too that your LO might be adverse to a cot for a while. Neither of mine would go in theirs much till at least 12 months.

Thanks both, that’s really helpful.

@ExplodingSmittens how did you put your baby to sleep in the first 12 months? Did you use a Moses handler or did they sleep with you?

I used the ikea £35 cot for all 3 of mine and it was awesome!

Oh great thanks!

And when I say all 3, that was the same cot for all of them. I’ve just realised it sounds like I got 3 different cots!

Probably the best (small!) amount of money I ever spent on baby stuff.

Another parent who had an Ikea cot here - we had the Sundvik one. Two kids used it then it went off to the baby bank to be used by another family.

We had a Moses basket but both much preferred sleeping with us in the bed. It was the only way we could all get some sleep.

Just get the cot itself from Facebook marketplace then a new mattress. Lullaby trust dont endorse brands. They probably won’t sleep in it anyway.. we had a 2nd hand cot then went to a floor bed at about 10 months.
