This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

Hi have people used Montessori floor beds with their babies when moving them into their own rooms?

Would love to know what peoples experiences have been?

Currently DD is a good sleeper but in our bed. I don't think she will like a cot and we have seen online floor beds but we don't know many people who have used them.

How old is your DD and why do you think she won't like it?

A couple of people in my antenatal group went straight to a floor bed and it worked for them. One child barely crawled, never mind walked, for ages so he would reliably be found where you left him. The other one was very active but they baby proofed the room and mum stayed with him until he was asleep before leaving.

My DS has always been very mobile and active. I heard a paediatric something or other say that up to the age of 3 children have little to no impulse control. I see this in my son every day and honestly he's safer in his cot and that gives me peace of mind. I'm going to keep him in there until he starts trying to climb out.
