Cots and beds

This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

Can I remove a side of a regular cot?

Hi,

So my toddler is ready to move out of his cot- he puts his foot over the edge so I reckon he will be climbing out in a matter of days. I have a 120x60cm drop side cot (picture attached for reference) and I am wondering if I can just remove the drop side and add a rail guard.
The cot isn’t advertised as a cot bed but I can’t for the life of me figure out the difference! Can’t I just remove a side? The cot stands perfectly well with three sides. Trying to save the hassle and money on changing the cot and buying a new bed.
