How do you choose the right cot or bed?

hi! my first post. I'm wondering whats the best way to find a new cot which is perfect? Do you speak to friends, buy online? Little lost where to go!

I just chose the one I liked in the price range I wanted to spend. Didn't give much thought beyond that!
