Cots and beds

This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

Which cot or crib???

I am having twins, due July
My hardest choice is deciding what on earth they are supposed to sleep in from newborn and without having to buy loads of different ones as they get older. There's so many different ones around that I feel I need some recommendations for ones that are actually good

Ikea. I think I'd go for a cotbed sized (70x140) one that converts to a toddler bed. Assuming they will share a room, buy two, one for your room (maybe convert to a bedside cot?) put the other in the nursery. This will be handy as a safe place to put one while you change/dress/bath the other on a changing table in the same room, and save you moving furniture about twice.

I believe twins can share a cot at first? So you can have them in together until you want them out of your room at which point they can have a cot each. Convert when ready. Keep as toddler beds (take up less floor space than 2x singles) until they are old enough for bunk beds - 5ish?

Or if they will have a room each I'd probably get 2x normal sized cots (60x120) and again put one in your room for them to share, one in another room. Move to their own rooms when ready. Replace with single beds when outgrown.

But I have not had twins so it might be totally different in reality! Maybe ask on the twins and multiples section what people have found works for them?
