Crib recommendations 0-6months

Hi! We are looking for recommendations for a crib for 0-6months. Baby will sleep in our room but want to know what's recommended. We're looking at bedside mainly but open to anything.

We were recommended the Baby Elegance Kangu bedside crib but have seen that the unpadded metal sides in the middle aren't ideal once the baby can move around more.

First time Mum and just have seen too many options!

Tutti Bambini Cozee. I don't have one but wish I did, I like that it folds up easily and can be used for travel (not that we're going anywhere atm, boo!)

I would advise against the Snuzpod because I have one (Snuzpod2) and it's not portable, it's also very narrow - I don't know if they made it wider for future versions.

(Actually I think the Snuzpod 3 and 4 are wider than the 2)

I was looking at the Cozee too! I see there is an air version that's £50ish more bit can rock or use wheels...not sure if it's is worth it for the extra £50. Which would you go for?

Wheels might be handy if you live in a flat or bungalow (ie no stairs) as you can wheel it around to keep baby near you for night time and naps. But if you live in a house you're likely to just keep it upstairs by your bed, so no real need for wheels.

Is this first baby and are you planning/hoping for more? If you're likely to reuse it you could justify spending a bit more! But I'm sure the standard one would do the job.

This is our first but will hopefully have at least another, if my Endometriosis allows it again!

But I think we will go for the basic too, not in a. Flat and would only use it to roll away from the bed but then again, you'd have to also unfasten it first too so might as well go for the normal version and spend that money on something else :)

We have the snuzpod 3 (wider than the previous ones), it's great. We take the bassinet top part off and have that in the living room with us in the evening, we live in a flat though. DS seems to like it. He's 4 months now and I'll keep him in it for as long as he fits. It's lovely having him sleep right next to me.

We have the next to me and that does the job with DS, though DD wouldn't really sorry in it as a baby. I like that it's got a much wider footprint than most as DS is on the 98th centile and getting too big for the widest Moses basket we could find (which is only a little smaller than the snuzpod- snuzpod is 100cm by 49cm, Moses basket is 86cm by 47cm, Next to Me is 99.5cm x 73cm). There's no way he'd still fit in a snuzpod by six months.

If you own a drill, buy the cheapest ikea cot, work out where the mattress base would need to be for it to be flush with your bed, drill extra holes to allow you to install the base at this height. Then order a custom mattress from babymattressesonline or use a standard one and wedge something solid on the far side so that the mattress covers the gap between cot and bed. Use cable ties, a metal bracket screwed on or bungee cord to attach to bed.

Lasts longer and doesn't have a weight limit unlike most of these cots.

I had a next2me. No complains, baby stayed in it until nearly 9m & would have fit in even longer

Great solution if you have lots of space in your bedroom - I don't!
We could only fit a bedside crib (not a full size cot) and the Next2Me would have been too wide for the space we've got.
Perhaps OP has more room though.

This does sound good but we already have a cot bed in the nursery room so want something that can double as a travel crib when staying with family :)

If you want a travel cot you're probably better off actually buying a travel cot with a bassinet attachment. They last much longer. Our pram bassinet was suitable for overnight sleeping so we would have used that had we done any overnight traveling.

Snuzpod snuzpod snuzpod

Due to different factors, we had 3 cribs in 3 different houses.

The snuzpod, chicco next to me, and a cheap wooden one.

The snuzpod was by far the best.

It is sturdy, looks nice and massive. DS was in it until well past 6 months

And I would say you're better off just buying a nice crib for your room and a dirt cheap travel crib

I disagree with PPs. If I was buying again I'd get the Tutti Bambini Cozee (for home and travel) and then when it's outgrown I would use a cot bed (for home) and a large basic travel cot (120cm long).

We had a Snuzpod which obviously wasn't portable and then whenever we went away and used the travel cots provided, it was a pain to lift DS (heavy baby!) in and out of them. I then bought a travel cot with sides you could zip up and down so it was easier to get him in and out. Then he outgrew it and we had to get another travel cot (the large 120cm size). So if I'd got a Cozee instead of a Snuzpod I would have saved money on the first travel cot I bought. The travel cots with bassinets won't actually last that long as the bassinets have weight limits and the main cot may be outgrown in length (as they're usually around 100cm) while DC still needs a cot.

Don't spend loads, might become an expensive bed side table

I love my chicco next to me. It's now on its second baby and I've loved it both times!

It is pretty portable but might be easier to still get a travel cot, we've got one with a newborn attachment which raises the mattress so you don't need to bend right over. It's very useful and you'll probably need a travel cot at some point anyway. We used ours till our son was well over 2. It is now also on its second baby and is set up in the living room as a safe space for our newborn daughter away from her big brother and the dog.

Looking for a crib/cot that’s an extension of our bed ie at the same level of matress. We have a Chicco Next 2 Me and it’s at a lower level than our bed. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Has anyone tried Halo bassinest? Going to be a first mum later this year, I thought this looked good?
