Hi
I’ve been weaning my baby since 18 weeks due to reflux. Since he turned 6 months last week I’ve upped it and he now has porridge with breast milk and fruit in the morning after a very short feed, mid morning short milk feed post nap, lunch of 2 veg and protein, short milk feed after nap, short milk feed after afternoon nap, avocado and fruit normally after this then a longer feed at bedtime. I am doing a mix of BLW and purées.
He loves his food and often cries when I take him out of the high chair but he doesn’t really want to breastfeed! He’ll do anywhere between 5-9 mins per feed (few mins of each breast) and that’s it unless it’s bedtime where he’ll do about half an hour. All the feeds mentioned above are as soon as he wakes up. He doesn’t even feed for long first thing!
I am worried that the solids have replaced breastfeeding and I know food is just supposed to be for fun under one.
He always fed for hours and has gone through patches of refusing the breast. I know he could just be more of an efficient feeder now and he is doing plenty of wet nappies.....
He is allergic to dairy so I can’t offer him cheese etc.
Should I start feeding him less and hope he’ll do bigger feeds to try and ensure he’s getting hind milk? Or continue with the little and often? Or give him less solids??
Any advice would be great.
Thank you!
