Travel cot - help!!

We are going abroad soon and trying to decide on a travel cot is so confusing!! Ideally it would have a bassinet option as my LO is 4 months old.

We obviously want one that is fairly light and compact but that doesn't compromise on the mattresses!

Any suggestions? HELP!

Presumably you’re driving or do you need to take it on the plane, in the hold? How long will you be away for?

We are driving to the airport but then it will need to go in the hold! We do also sometimes travel via train so the more compact the better. We are away for nearly 2 weeks x

We took our daughter abroad from age 5 weeks in a red kite £25 travel cot with no bassinet she didn't mind at all.

We travel very frequently and this one is great. I wouldn't spend more, although I did buy a proper mattress for it for around £15 but only because sometimes we are away for a month or more.

Pop up cribs are a lot easier to travel with!

Spacecot (but it seems to be sold out)
Chicco Zip and Go
Phil and ted travel cot
Koo-di pop up bassinet ( short term option I know)

Anyone got any experience with these?

We had the Koodi pop up travel cot - the full size one and bought an inflatable mattress to go with it to make it comfier.

It was perfect for what we needed to start with but when she started crawling it was a pain in the arse as even though the sides zip closed it tips if they roll or push against it with a bit of pressure, I didn't think this was particularly safe so would leave the side down which then meant she would escape in the night anyway which wasn't ideal!

We had a basic one for my DS and it was better for containment but it weighed a ton and was really bulky.

If o had my time again if have something like the Babylo Liteway as it looks compact and weighs less than 5kg. I wouldn't bother about the lack of bassinet as you can only use that for a short time anyway.

@Squinteastwood did you put the Koodi on the floor or place it on something? That's something I've been wondering... especially if the vila floor is stone as the normally are - not carpet

Just on the floor - if using the standard mattress on hard floors I'd probably just put a few towels or blankets down for a bit of padding but the inflatable mattress was really thick so it was fine.

I have the Joie Allura, it's got a bassinet so perfect for my 4 month old xx

I had a mothercare one, bought it as a playpen mainly but it got used as cot when I had to stay at my mum's in an emergency. I bought an extra mattress which I took on holiday when we went on holiday abroad & travel cot fitted sheets.

I presume you’ve checked but can the villa not supply one? If so then you could take your own inflatable mattress and sheets, or get a mattress delivered there?

I’ve not taken it abroad, the mattress is fine, the bassinet height option is very good. Most importantly it folds easily and quickly every time.
I also have a black travel cot, the make is baby something it’s larger which is why I got it to use at work ( yes I take my child with me) and it’s a bastard to fold it can take half an hour to get it back in the bag. I thought mine was faulty until someone told me theirs was the same and they frequently resort to tying it together with string!
