Cots and beds

This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

What does a newborn sleep under?!

Hi, currently pregnant with first baby, due in 5 weeks.

I've bought a swinging crib and lots of different bedding options, but have no idea what to use when newborn as I keep reading different advice! I've got 2 sets of quilt and bumpers....but have since read they are a risk. I've got 2 sleeping bags, one 2.5 tog and one 1 tog....but both say can't use until baby is 10lbs. Otherwise I've got one swaddle pod and lots of sheets and blankets.

Would be really grateful for some advice about what to use in those first few weeks, thank you!

Cellular blankets or just a sheet, get to foot and tucked under the end on the mattress.

Our more realistically, nothing at all, newborns often don't sleep in their cots.

Sheets and blankets until they're big enough for a grobag. Most babies need one sheet and one blanket. DS had five, plus a hat and was next to a radiator (prem baby in a cold house!)
