Cots and beds

This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

Travel cot - is it worth trying another one?

We have the very basic John Lewis travel cot - at the time there didn't seem to be a huge difference in the ones on the market so we didn't think it worth spending a lot of money on one. However dd sleeps terribly in it! She seems to wriggly around in it a lot and end up with her face pressed up against the mesh sides and also her hands are constantly bashing into the mesh and waking her up. I don't mind spending money on a new one, but can't see how it will be any different because the fundamental design of all of them is the same. Anyone had difficulties with one travel cot and "upgraded" with success?

You wouldn't get anything fundamentally different. You could buy a proper mattress for it though. Babies R Us do them I think.

DD hated the travel cot but the mattress did help.
