Moses basket for large 3month old

DS will be almost 3 months when we go on a month-long holiday in August. At the moment he naps in the carrycot of our pram, but we're taking a different pram with us.
I'm thinking of buying a Moses basket & sending it out to our holiday flat, but am unsure if any will be large enough by that point.

Anyone know of a large Moses basket or similar, suitable for carrying around indoors?

Have you seen those Samsonite pop-up cots? I think they go up to toddler-age and don't take up much space.

here's a new one

Not suitable for carrying, though.

MrsPlugThePlumber · 08/06/2012 19:59

Oh, it says up to 6m not toddler-age - sorry!

Thanks - that would've be great but we don't really need it to fold up.
Defo need to be able to carry it from room to room though.

Most babies are on their way out of a moses basket by 3 months - they wake themselves up by throwing their arms around.

Do you mind me asking why you want to be carrying your ds around in whatever he's sleeping in? I can understand it with a newborn, but by 3 months he may sleep better if settled in a travel cot or whatever with a baby monitor.

Other than than, use a pram that lies flat and he can sleep in that?

Well we have DD who will be 2 by then, I was going to put her in the travel cot that is already there (family holiday home) so don't really want to buy another.
Maybe the best thing then is to try her in a big bed & DS in the travel cot...?
Just don't really like the idea of him being in a separate room when he's still so young. At 3 months DD was still sleeping in the carrycot downstairs til we went to bed.

We used a readybed for DS1 about that age.
Personally I thought they were a bit static-y, but he slept no worse than usual.

I think at 3 months you'll be out of a moses basket, unless you have a petite baby.

BobbysBeardOfWonder · 08/06/2012 21:01

DS definitely not petite Grin

I remember my DNephew sleeping in one of those inflatable beds when he was 3-ish - he always got really sweaty cos it was obviously not breathable fabric. Not sure that's such a great idea for a little baby in a hot country. Sad

I had one of these for DD, she still fit in it until 19 weeks, she was between 91st and 98th centile. Its larger than the ones you get in Mothercare etc, normal Moses sheets are a bit snug so I used pillowcases.
