This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

My ds1 will be 16 months when baby arrived and I'm planning on keeping baby in our room for 6 months by which time ds1 should be able to go into a bed and the baby into the cot. I was planning on getting a glider crib because ds1 outgrew the Moses basket in 3 months, but a friend said the baby could be sitting up by 6 months which I hadn't thought about. Anyhow I've seen a bassinet now that I really like which is in between the two in size and my brain hurts trying to decide what's best.

my ds was 17months when dd was born, I bought a crib for her as ds grew out of his mosses basket within 2 months and even though we had bought ds a bed he refused to sleep in it. The crib worked really well, it was bigger that a mosses basket and half the size of a cot. It rocked from side to side, I loved it.

We wanted to move dd into the cot at 5 months, I cant remember the reason why now. Possible she was pulling herself into a sitting position. Ds would not leave his cot. we ended up having to buy a second cot. Ds only left his cot at 3 when he literally did not have room to turn comfortably.

sorry to waffle on but i cant sleep and didn't want to leave you post answered

I would have loved a rocking crib!

However moses baskets much more portable.
