Troll bedside crib - anyone got one?!

DC2 is due in May, a friend recommended her Brio bedside cot but it seems too big for our bedroom. Has anyone got the Troll bedside crib?
And more importantly, do you want to sell it?

Can't help re Troll crib i'm afraid but is your friend looking to sell her Brio cot?!? We're after one in Scotland!

I had one, it lasted two dds up to about 8mo and 6mo, worked brilliantly for night times. Once they got a bit mobile I dropped the base down so they were below the level of our mattress and wouldn't roll out during naps. I found it on ebay, I don't think they're sold any more (or at least I couldn't find one new 3 years ago). Would sell it but it's gone to a mate whose dc2 is due in a month or so, sorry...!

I didn't use a Troll bedside crib, but I did use a bedside cot.

It was fantastic, like co-sleeping only you get to sleep! All my little ones slept next to us in the cot till they were too mobile (eventually they start to 'wander' round your bed while you're asleep, and are in danger of falling off the bed!

I would suggest you look at a bedside cot rather than a crib though, because with the crib, you'll need a cot in 5 or 6 months, and the crib is no longer of use. With a cot, the same thing lasts for a few years (my 4 YO moved out of his cot a year ago and still asks when he can heve it back!).

Thanks for replies. We have a cot bed that DD is currently using so dont really need another, plus there's not enough space in our room for a cot size bed.
Friend has only just bought her Brio so unlikely to sell anytime soon, sorry!

Total hijack - Apologies Bobby - but if you don't mind me asking where did your friend get her Brio?

Hope you find right bedside solution for you. Could you fit a small cot in your room? I've read of people who've customised IKEA ones into co-sleepers? (not sure what size difference is btwn that & your friend's Brio though)

McKTastic my friend found her Brio on EBay, since they're not made anymore. More common than the Troll it seems! Can't find one anywhere Cots are too big.

I have this crib in white, got it from John Lewis online for £160 in April. Really pleased with it as it is compact and it fitted well against the bed (you can adjust it to different heights). It is well made too, is nice and solid. Unfortunately my dd would only sleep on my chest for most of the time. Even so, I think it is better than a moses basket and hopefully will use it again if I have another.

Oh yes I know John Lewis sells it but I was hoping not to spend quite so much so hence looking for 2nd hand one. Might have to resign myself to a new one though!

Is the troll bedside crib suitable for a divan bed? I was looking at a similar crib but found on one site selling it it said it wasn't suitable for a divan, but I can't find any similar details about the troll.

Bumping this; like FamiliarSting I'm also wondering if they're suitable for divan beds? Can't seem to find a bedside cot/crib that will fit my superking divan and it's driving me bonkers.

Any suggestions?

Hi, I was also thinking of the troll bedside crib, but have just bought a similar one for £45.99 from homcom online in the sale (with free delivery) which comes with mattress and all bedding. The same model is on amazon listed as a baby crib.

I sent a message to an online retailer of the troll to ask if it was suitable for divan beds, and I was told that it was, but I wasn't convinced.

which states:

Please Note: The Troll Bedside Crib does not attach to the side of the bed and does not come with anything which enables it to attach. Please ensure if positioning the crib next to your bed with the side lowered that there is no gap or no possibility of a gap forming between the bed and the cot.

Which to me suggests that it's not going to be a smooth edge from crib to bed. I guess you could stuff any gap with blankets or something, but I'm not convinced. A shame cos it looks really nice.

We have a superking divan too, why does our big, beautiful bed have to suddenly cause problems :/

Hello everyone :) Hubby and I are still at the research stage and everything is frightfully expensive or very flimsy-looking. EmmaLM1, I have the same question as puzzletree please. What do you think of the crib you bought from homcom as that looks like a rather good one?

I would also like to know what you thought of the homcom crib as it looks too cheap to be any good!

Also, in terms of the troll, does anyone know how long it would last for - 6 or 9 months?

I have only just assembled the Homcom bedside crib - baby due in April - and am very pleased with it. I was slightly anxious due to the low price (£45 on sale) but the quality is surprisingly very good. The instructions are easy to follow, and it is sturdy and attractive.

It comes with a foam mattress, which I am considering replacing, but have found a company that will make a custom one for £30.
It is very adjustable, and is exactly the height of our divan bed.
It does not attach to the bed, but with the casters locked, on carpet, there is no way it is going to move.
It has been much admired in our room, so all in all, am delighted. i wanted something in white, and there is attention to detail as even the casters are white.
I was reluctant to spend a vast amount of money on something that will be used for a matter of months only, but have still found it to be of better quality than the far more expensive baby beds that I had with my older kids.
It was delivered within 3 days, and we were advised by email when it would arrive.

This is interesting, we're just trying to decide whether to use an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper bedside cot that we picked up second hand. We've also got a moses basket, and my mind is boggled by all the options. We'd need to buy a custom fit mattress to use the bedside cot and I'm conscious that if we also have a cot for naps and so on as the months go on we'll have to buy yet another mattress for that. This thread has put me back in favour of at least trying the co-sleeper -- I think we'll going to try setting it up this weekend to see how it fits.

I also went for the homcom crib in the end, I thought nothing of it when I read it here as I've never heard of that company, but after hours of searching for something suitable I came across it.

I agree with everything that Emma said. I felt like I was taking a risk as it seemed too good to be true, but it arrived today and I've just assembled it (on my own - really is easy) and I am pretty impressed.

On its highest setting and with the casters on it is the perfect height to lie flush with our divan bed, we have a mattress topper on top of our matress so I was worried it might not be high enough, but it is, yay. We have just enough space at the side of the bed for it to fit which makes me confident that it can't move anywhere.

I'm also considering getting a custom made mattress, the one it comes with is pretty thick but I?m wondering if it should be firmer. It?ll also no doubt be a struggle to find fitted sheets with the extended lying area as it?s not a standard size (and comes in two parts to use when you have the extra lying area, which velcro together not-so-snuggly ), but regular flat sheets should do.

I was a bit put off by the poor description on the website; it seems like it?s written by someone with poor English, and the details were confusing, I also thought it odd that they didn?t give the dimensions, but I emailed them and got a pretty quick reply.
These are the details that they emailed ? I?ve haven?t double checked that they are accurate but the crib fits in the space that I measured after receiving the dimensions so I expect they are close.

I found even the way that this email was written was confusing but I figured it out.

I also think it?s confusing the way they refer to it as a ?bed? or even a ?cot? IMO it is definitely a ?crib? and if only it had been marketed as a ?bedside crib? or ?co-sleeper crib? it would no doubt have been a lot easier to find.

I don?t intend to use the canopy so haven?t put that up and can?t comment on that. It also came with a small duvet and bumpers, which were pictured but I wasn?t sure they came with it. I?ve never used bumpers so I?m not sure how thick they?re supposed to be, but these seem pretty thin. I don?t intend to use bumpers anyway so I?m not bothered by this.

So in all I?m pretty chuffed, I think it was a brilliant bargain and I?m glad I went for this instead of splashing out on the Troll which may or may not have been suitable for our bed.

Hi just wondered how those who have the homcom crib are getting on with it? My 3 month old has outgrown his basket although we never managed to get him in it, I thought we might have more luck with a bedside crib but don't want to spend to much incase he refuses to sleep in it! Also where did you get the custom mattress from and sorry to sound stupid what did you ask for and was it any good? Ta x
