Bedding for crib

Feel a bit stupid asking this but first time mum so here we go......

I have lots of fitted sheets for the mattress and lots of blankets. However can someone tell me if I also need flat sheets to go over baby too, or is a blanket alone sufficient????

Also is it best to have cotton bedding? (I have both cotton and flanelette and some fleecy type blankets).

Thanks in advance :)

I just used blankets (both cellular and fleece), but tbh I used a Grobag as soon as ds was big enough to fit into one as it's so much easier when they wriggle about and are forever chucking their blanket off.
