Cots and beds

This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

Is the Stokke Sleepi system worth the high cost?

We see it has good reviews, but costs a lot for everything over the 5 years. Is it really worth the extra over a normal cot bed?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

i really want one of these for my final baby lol - i think if you add up the cost of moses basket/crib, new cot, cot bed you would be at the same kinda cost as one of these!!

i love the shape - with my last baby i had a mothercare eco crib (wish i had kept it i loved it) then i had an egg shaped cot from ikea which was really different and funky but a buggah to get sheets for then i had a junior bed until she moved into a single bed!!!

i like how this has wheels and will grow with baby but stays the same kinda shape!!!

We looked at them and I absolutely loved the idea of it but when we saw the cot made up it didn't look very big, and in the end we went for a cot bed from m&p. I think it would be great if you were in a flat and could wheel it around into different rooms. I do know of a couple of people who bought it and loved it though. The other thing to bear in mind is you might have to buy their own special fitted sheets which could add to the expense.

We have got a stokke explore push chair though nd it is fabulous!

We have it and love it as does my friend.

One issue is the sheets though. You must buy their fitted sheets or use non fitted sheets and tuck them in very firmly.

The thing to do is add up the total cost of a stokke sleepi (Inc sheets) and the cost of the Moses basket, cot, cot bed etc (Inc sheets) that you would buy otherwise and compare the two.

I guess it also depends if you would have the room to use the sleepi as a day bed in the future. We have enough space for a playroom so will use the sleepi in there once dc are finished with it. That or we'll slice it up and use it as chairs in the dc rooms.
