... for elderly parents to sleep on. I have heard they are normally not very comfortable, and I really want something that will not exacerbate all their aches and pains.

Any recommendations?

bump - does anyone have a comfy one that's like a proper bed when opened out?

my friend has one from john lewis that is very comfy , as comfy as proper bed
lovely sofa as well

I second John Lewis. It is very comfortable to sleep on (we paid a bit extra for a super comfy mattress) and is easy to unfold. It also looks good and is a comfortable every day sofa.

It's not quite as high as a bed, but I wouldn't have any worries about our elderly relatives sleeping on it - although they haven't yet!

VERY comfy one from Habitat, cost about £800 but worth it. As high as and as comfy as a bed. www.habitat.co.uk/fcp/product/browse/3-seat-sofa-bed/10001234

Ours came from Ikea, it is vast and very very comfortable. I think it is called a Karlstadt but that could be the one I am sitting on now
I've slept on it loads, but parents will be on it next week as our bedroom is too far for mum to get to with angina.

Oh thank you, really helpful. We are not too far from a JL so I will try and find one of theirs to lie on and go from there. Smile

We got ours from DFS. It's got a proper mattress and is really comfy.
