Falling asleep everywhere but Moses basket

My one week old will happily fall asleep everywhere and anywhere, on the boob, the sofa, a pillow, my arms but as soon as I put her in her Moses basket she will wake up.

A friend lent me an amby hammock which I had high hopes for but could not seem to get it in a position where her head was higher than her feet, so went and bought an emergency basket.

She will nap in it during the day, sometimes, but at night, especially after a feed will wake up as soon as I put her in it.

I wondered whether it may be because by the time we have returned from a night feed the mattress/sheet are cold. I don't want to put anything Inside the basket, but wondered if I can put something between the mattress and the sheet that might soften/warm it up a bit.

Hello. Congratulations on your baby! Is this your first?
Didn't want you to be unanswered. Remember, she's only 1 week old, so will want to be in your arms not a cold Moses basket - and who can blame her!

Good plan for night feeds is a hot water bottle that you pop in the basket when she comes out - then remove it when she goes back in - not very hot just enough to keep it warm. If you find it heats it too much, what about a teddy/ jumper/ warm towel - just to stop warmth escaping?

i'd rather be sleeping on me too but that's not possible, so last night I took to sitting on the mattress whilst feeding her in bed. When I put her back it smelt of me and was warm and seemed to do the trick

Would still like to know if it would be wrong to sandwich something between matress and sheet? Paranoid about introducing anything that could suffocate her

sorry, just seen your reply - how have the last few days gone? I don't know too much about SIDS - other know more, but I would worry about padding the bed. What sort of mattress do you have? I think it better to be cold and grumpy than at risk...
