Single mattress advice please

Hello.
We are just about to move my 2 yr old DD into a big bed. we have decided to buy a single sized base, but unsure about the mattress. Obviously we want a mattress that will last until she's 12ish, so we want a good quality one, but it's so hard to decide without seeing the mattresses (I've just been reading about them online). I've looked at Mothercare and John Lewis websites so far, but i'm no nearer to making a decision! Has anyone got any recommendations of mattresses to buy (or avoid). Thank you

hello sara, i see its a month ago, but wondering how you got on with your mattress - or anyone else who has some advice. we are moving our DS's (4 and 2) into bunk beds (separated for now) and need some advice on mattresses. They all seem so expensive but what sort to get???
