Cots and beds

This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

Help me with Toddler Bed stuff, please!

DS2 is 2.6 and getting ready for a big boys bed. He shares a room with DS1 who has a full size 3ft single bed but if we put another in there there'll be no floor space at all (or chest of drawer, or toy space....!).

They will probably have bunks in a couple of years but we feel DS1 is a bit young for a top bunk (5.3) plus we are nervous about it as DS1 has a mild form of epliepsy and has only fitted twice but both times were in bed.

So Toddler Bed questions.... Would a 2nd hand cotbed do the job for a few years or would a dedicated junior bed be better (poss 2nd hand?

Would I really have do get Toddler Bedding or would a full single duvet folded cunningly do?

What age could I expect a Toddler bed to last to?

Any recommendations? (reasonably priced)

Thanks!

Our toddler bed lasted DS till hie was over 5, but he isn't the tallest boy you will ever meet.

A secondhand one is fine, a few usually turn up at NCT Nearly New Sales.

As for bedding I bought 2 fitted sheets and just used a normal duvet and covers.

I almost have the same problem with dd5 in junior bed and dd2 9 months in cot, no room for full size single. My dd is 5 and still has loads of room in her toddler bed , from John Lewis about £100 but was a present from mil.

I use cot bed sheets and bought a cheap kids Ikea duvet and cover and cut them to the size. Was easy to do with a sewing machine. I recently bought her a full size duvet but she was soaked with sweat as there was so much of it, so its now waiting for her really big girl bed.

I would think a cot bed/junior would your best bet for the next 2.5 years. If you got a junior bed which extends to full size this would fit under a cabin style bed for older brother

Or type Saplings junior bed into Amazon. This is the one we are buying DD this month. By far a lot cheaper than almost every other one we have seen. And it has a free mattress with it, and comes in several finishes.

:)
