IVA referral to Life Insurance Broker

Hi

I hope this is the appropriate place to post this? Apologies if not.

I am in an IVA and recently had a call from them regarding help decrease my monthly outgoings.
They got me onto a cheaper energy plan which was great.

They have also referred me to an insurance broker who has been looking at finding cheaper life insurance policies for my husband and I.

My question really is whether I should have any concerns about them doing this. I am not really sure what I am worried about, perhaps the element of control in my affairs. The broker also wants me to agree that the policy must remain in place for four years.

Possibly I am looking for some one to tell me not to be daft or paranoid.

I look forward to any advice.

I wonder if part of the broker's motivation is to protect creditors? If you have life insurance in place for the duration of the IVA then, should you die, it would presumably pay out and help resolve any remaining debt. If the policy is cheaper, you're not losing out in any case.

Engaging in an IVA is sort of accepting that you're delegating your financial management to a third party... but the alternative is probably worse. Good luck
