Interested to know how cheaply you can feed a family of 5 (one is only 4 months and being Breast fed). WOuld hope to eat reasonable food.

We are a family of 3 and our weekly spend went up due to neccesities for the little one. Now I try to stick to a budget and resist temptations and found that it really useful to have a shopping list. There is a site called the resourceful cook that helps you plan your weekly shop which tells you how much your meals costs and them provides you with a shopping list for everything you need for each meal. Here's the link if anyone is interested.

We are a family of five (2 adults, 8, 5 and 3 year old DC) and I have got my spending down from around £700 a month to around £350 for groceries and toiletries. I use the Old Style Money Saving board on Money Saving Expert.Com to help me and I meal plan over the weekend and place an order for a food delivery on Monday to last till Sunday. That is to include breakfast, lunch and dinner. I use the slow cooker, batch cook, do my own bread etc.

I also use Approved Food a lot.

We must spend about £100 a week on 4 of us (me, DP, 4yo Tom and Erin who is 8 months on sunday). And we goto PIL on a sunday for dinner Shock. Thats us shopping in Morrisons and Asda. Oh, and no packed lunches either. DP has no breakfast or lunch atm as he's wanting to loose weight Hmm.

Meant to add that we are going to try and bring it down a bit further from September.

You could try using the calculator on resourcefulcook.com to see how much money you could save from your grocery shopping. It showed that I could save hundreds of pounds annually and that is roughly a lovely week holiday for us!
