Universal Credit Review

I applied for UC earlier this year. Called them earlier as I wanted to check that a I had disclosed a relatively new account and couldn’t see it listed, but couldn’t see any accounts listed. Phoned them to ask, they couldn’t tell me anything over the phone and just said to leave a note in my journal. I’ve now been flagged for an enhanced review. The volume of information they’re asking for is excessive, including photos of my street sign, numerous photos of me holding various signs, my work contract, GP info etc and to attend the job centre. I can’t do this because I’m at work, and to be honest the money that I’m entitled to is minimal. I’d rather be completely skint. Can I just close the claim?

You can close the claim whenever you want just leave a note in your journal.

You can buy it might not stop the review.

I’m happy to provide the info if I have to, I don’t have anything to hide. I’d still rather end the claim than have to go through this every few months.

Yes if you don’t want to claim anymore you can stop the claim. They may still do this review though to make sure you don’t need to pay any back.

The information you’ve been asked for sounds as though they’re checking that you live where you say you live. When you say you wanted to advise them of a new account, what type of account do you mean? A bank account or something else? Reviews should happen periodically but that doesn’t sound like what you’re being asked for.

I opened a help to save account through DWP. I’m pretty sure it was added to my list of bank accounts, but I couldn’t see a list of bank accounts to check, so I called the UC telephone number and was told not to worry about it as all accounts are connected to my NI number anyway so they’d be aware, but to leave a note in my journal, which I did do.

Someone reported you or they already have more information than you provided. They won't do that kind of review for opening savings account.
Standard review = statements + housing + health issues.
Enhanced review = they have proof to believe you have more savings, live with someone, etc.
Even if you'll close your account, they will probably keep checking.
