In Full Education Part-Time Work UC

Hi, my daughter (18) is in college studying full time BTEC Applied Science Level 3. Shes currently searching for part-time work (24 hours a week) to work around her studies. If she finds part time work will this affect the child element we get for her on Universal Credit?

Also Is there a set number of hours she can only do when in full time education before it effects her carers UC claim?

Thanks in advance.

Her work will not affect your UC. If you get Carer element for her that's based on her having PIP and you providing care for 35 hours or more.

Are you sure she meets the conditions for you to get Child Element as a Qualifying Young Person? I think she will but there are loads of questions around that issue ATM.

Hi, no she doesn't get PIP we get UC for her as she is still in full-time education.

Im just wondering if this gets affected if she finds a part-time job around 24 hours a week.

No, her work does not affect your UC. Misunderstood carer in OP as meaning you got a Carer Element.

I joined Mumsnet this morning as I'm kinda in the same situation. My 18year old is home educated (has been since age 14) Home Education qualifies the requirements for child benefit and UC child element.
Today my son told me that he has been offered a part-time position and that the employer is happy to schedule his working hours around his tuition/studying. He will work 22 hours per week and continue with his education.
I worry if he accepts this part-time job offer will it affect UC child element and Child benefit.

Did you speak with UC regarding your situation, if yes, what was the outcome?
Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

I joined Mumsnet this morning as i’ve struggled to find any helpful information around my situation. My 18year old is home educated (has been since age 14) Home Education qualifies the requirements for child benefit and UC child element.

He wants to work to save money for driving lessons and a car in the future.

I worry if he accepts this part-time job offer will it affect UC child element and Child benefit.

Has anyone been in this situation?

Is she claiming carers allowance for looking after someone?
