Just changed broadband and TV provider and it’s £79 less a month for way better package!

I have been putting off changing providers for about 10 + years…! We had landline and internet with BT, and then TV was via Sky.

Superfast broadband has just appeared in our street so I looked into changing it with BT. They quoted £100 for a broadband upgrade and landline (we are currently around £90) and our Sky TV is £45.

I thought £145 was way more than I’ve read others have so called Sky. They’ve now upgraded us to better Sky TV box, same landline (we need it for our business), superfast broadband upgrading us from 30 speed to 900 speed 🎉 All for £66!

So with one phone call I’ve saved us £79 a month!! That’s £948 a year!!!

Cant believe I’ve had my head buried in the sand for so long and hadn’t really thought of switching til now. Wanted to post here if that helps anyone look into switching providers and save some money!

Have I read that right? You were paying £145 for landline and broadband?

Ilikeyoursleeves · 03/04/2026 19:05

That was the proposed upgrade price for landline (inc all
inclusive call package) broadband and Sky TV all in.

Currently paying £90 a month for broadband and landline and £45 for Sky TV so not far off!

I realise it was a complete rip
off now I’ve looked into changing providers 😳

Our new UK house - 1GB fibre broadband, Sky Sports and Netflix is £56 a month with Virgin.

Yeah, it's annoying and so tedious but you've got to play the game or get ripped off.

The difference in cost between 'full Sky' and broadband without hopping from deal to deal and a new deal every year or two and just a streaming service or two is huge.

We're currently on Vodafone full fibre for £23 pm, and we got a £155 M&S voucher when we switched, plus Paramount Plus, Now TV entertainment and movies package half price on a Black Friday deal, so total average cost around £35 pm or so. I've also just cancelled the TV licence because I can't remember when we last watched live TV or used iPlayer so that's another £180 per year saved.

Yes it was. It's easy to let things roll on as changing is just another admin chore we can all do without. It's definitely worth it though.

Why do you pay for TV? Is it Sport channels? I think I pay about £30 for Internet.

Imanerdypairofsocks · 13/04/2026 20:59

I pay £25 for internet
£27 for Sky Sports
and we get Netflix free with our insurance
we also get Disney+ free but I can't remember why!

So I'm quite pleased with what we have ☺️ I won't cancel TV license as I cancelled Spotify and now use BBC Sounds & radio instead.

It feels good to save!

(I find Freeview TV tedious. Haven't watched it in years but when I do - I notice how things have been edited if they're repeats. 💩)
